Square dowel boxes allow for longitudinal and lateral movement in concrete slab joints while providing high shear capacity. the boxes and dowels are manufactured with ACRS certified galvanised steel and comply with the relevant Australian Standards (AS3679.1, AS1365 and AS1397:2011) SRG’s square dowel boxes allow for early concrete longitudinal and lateral shrinkage across the joint and long term thermal expansion. The boxes allow for a minimum lateral movement of 20mm either side of the bar and provide a large expansion joint capacity for a typical maximum expansion of 20mm. The system comprises of two components, a high quality galvanised sheet metal box that is intended to be nailed to the edge-board before the first concrete pour, and a square HDG dowel bar that slides into the box before the second pour.
